"We loved this place. The rooms except the standard ones all overlook the ocean. Staff friendly and chatty. Breakfasts would be repetitive after a few days. We booked the Zen room on Agoda.

The hotel is about 15 minute's drive south of Galle and about a 10 minute walks north from the Habaraduwa town. Adventurous travelers can get there by taking any bus from Colombo toward Matara and ask to stop at Habaraduwa or if you're eagle eyed almost in front of the hotel. No need to take a three wheeler to Galle. Take and north bound bus from outside the hotel and ignore the touts. It's about Rs 25. Or ttake train to Galle and then bus the rest of the way. "Cantaloupe Aqua was located on the most stunning strip of beach in Unawatuna. Being a relatively new hotel there were a few basic things that were lacking eg.a room safe, kettle, comfy chairs in the balcony but the hotel staff informed us that all the above were soon to be provided. The staff for amazingly courteous, friendly and informative. The hotel provides useful info on places to visit, bars, restaurants around the area and everything's easily accesible by tuktuk.We were told that there's great spots to snorkel in as parts of the beach were reefed. The food was nice, offering an eclectic mix of continental and local cuisine. Breakfast at CA was lovely, we particularly enjoyed the Srilankan breakfast and would strongly recommend for first timers to try it! We would highly recommend ppl to try the local seafood at a closeby waterfront restaurant (we went to Happy Banana) which was just divine. All in all, our stay at CA was the most relaxing part of our trip to srilanka, a place where you just lose the sense for time, enjoy the sound of the waves and forget about the world :)

"A cool hotel on a beautiful stretch of beach. Aqua Ocean Rooms were nice but small,but the Zen rooms and the Aqua Chic rooms were more spacious and very funky. Staffs were friendly, helpful and polite, and the food in the restaurant was good. It's a nice place to chill out right by the water, sip cocktails and clear your mind. CA rooms each have their own distinct character. Interiors have been designed in-house by Cantaloupe with a predominantly white palate combined with black highlights and vividly coloured pop art.

13 of the 16 CA rooms feature sea views. The second story rooms overlook the bay, making the guest feel as though they are floating directly above the sand. There are no walls obstructing the view, as far as the eye sees is just CA Ocean.

Aqua Ocean Play (AOP)
The eight AOP rooms feature stunning beach frontage. The ground floor rooms each have a lounge area and the second storey rooms above have private balconies. These rooms have been specially designed to blend the panache of Euro Chic with the warmth of local interior style. All interior statements have been hand picked, from the white wooden floors to the chic light fittings. Every detail has been considered to create the perfect setting for the ultimate beach holiday. AOP rooms have luxurious King sized beds dressed in Egyptian cotton and custom made seating. Rooms also include WIFI Internet access; a 26-inch LCD TV with full cable channel access and a DVD player.

Aqua Ultra Zen(AUZ)
AUZrooms are categorized as Junior Suites. In addition to the standard CA roomamenities, these rooms are larger, support more lavish décor and are closer inproximity to the beach. AUZ sport luxurious king sized beds (with provision toupgrade to a triple),an elevated Party/Lounge Deck Area and expansive temperedglass balconies overlooking the Indian ocean. There is a lounge area with afully stocked mini bar, two two-seater sofas, ottomans and a coffee table. Theentertainment system consists of Bose Sound Dock (optional), WIFI Internetaccess, 32 inch LCD TV with full cable channel access and a DVD player.

Aqua Zen (AZ)
Aqua Ocean Play AZ has adopted the quirkiest personality at CA. Taking on a predominantly white color palate, which is punctuated by outrageous pop art features. AZ showcases ash stained oak floors and a mezzanine, the focal point of which is a bed recessed in the center, mimicking authentic Zen inspired architecture. The foyer area has ample lounge space (that can comfortably seat 6 guests) with custom couches, WIFI Internet access, a fully-fledged entertainment system (inclusive of a sound dock, 32 inch LCD TV, cable and a DVD player) and a private bar to amuse guests any time. With tempered glass balconies framing the best of the south coast sunsets-it is tranquility in its most fashionable state.

Aqua Chic and Ultra Chic (AUC)
Aqua Ocean Play Aqua Chic rooms are the villa’s suites. These suites aptly encapsulate the complete Aqua experience. Chic white wooden floors complemented by opulent white linen king sized beds automatically immolate a scene of decadence. AC rooms have private infinity Jacuzzis fenced in by a tempered glass balcony that overlooks the bay. The spacious bathroom and vanity sections have stylish his and her sinks and bathtubs that sport a sea view. An intelligent and LED lighting system customizes the desired ambiance that can range from ambient to disco-esque. The lounge areas are equipped with a fully stocked mini bar, 42 inch LCD TVs, Bose sound docks with preloaded play lists and swanky sofas, which create the perfect entertainment enclave.

CA ULTRA CHIC is a larger room featuring a private bar, which can be stocked on request.

Aqua Aqua (AA)
AA rooms have been decked out to meet a very high standard of hospitality; what they lack in terms of a sea view they make up for in luxury living space. These rooms are extremely intimate and are ideal for a quixotic escape.

Cantaloupe AQUA is located in the hamlet of Habaraduwa, on Sri Lanka’s southern coast, and set back from a sandy sweep of palm-fringed beach extending to Koggala, a few kilometres to the east. During season time (between November and April), the sea beyond CA attracts some great breaks for experienced surfers, and beginners can learn how to surf with our friendly neighbouring surf instructors who’ll whisk you to Weligama, a 20-minute drive away. Marine life is also good, and you can snorkel to the front of the hotel or in the bay to the west where there are coral reef beds about 30 to 100 meters offshore.

Throughout the year, our sandy ribbon of beach ebbs and flows as the ocean currents are constantly changing. For most of the year, the sea in front of the hotel is perfect for swimming whilst at other times the beach may be flushed out by the waves. Changing climatic conditions affect the ocean and change its mood; there are days when she displays stunning hues of aquamarine blue and others when storms colour her green, black and gray. To the west of the hotel – a ten-minute stroll – is another sandy beach featuring a turquoise lagoon sculpted by an offshore reef, and this is a suitable swimming spot all year round.

The bohemian beach resort of Unawatuna - famed for its pretty sandy bay, eclectic beach bars and frequent beach parties – is just 5km to the west of CA whilst Koggala’s meandering lake and extensive stretch of sandy beach lie a few kilometres to the east. Galle, and her famous sixteenth century Dutch Fort – home to an ever increasing number of exquisite villas, cafes, boutiques and restaurants – is just 10km from AQUA, and the lofty sea-smashed ramparts and atmospheric streets of this charming old town are fabulous for late afternoon strolls.

Other reasons to take a break from your sun lounger include activities such as deep sea fishing, diving, whale and dolphin watching, inland bicycle rides and local cookery classes.
